Fun Solutions to Complex Vision Issues
By My Kids Fan Staff of Connecticut Parent Magazine
Fun Solutions at 4DVision issues have long since been a source of struggle for children in the classroom, hindering their development as students and learners, sometimes remaining unaddressed and untreated even after they’re far along on their educational path. In activities ranging from reading and learning to sports performance and other physical activities, one in four children have vision issues that will affect their daily lives. It’s possible your child could be struggling in school and on the athletic field due to vision issues you are unaware of. 4D Vision Gym might be the solution.
The team at 4D Vision Gym, Vision Therapy would like you to know that healthy vision isn’t always just a matter of 20/20 eyesight. Understanding and providing treatment and training solutions to help children succeed at crucial stages in their educational development is very important. Their vision is at the center of their ability to learn and succeed as students and athletes. 4D Vision Gym has a history of success stories and glowing responses from therapy members.
4D Vision Gym, an optometrist-supervised treatment program to treat specific vision challenges your child may be facing, presents unique treatment programs in visual therapy. In many cases, routine eye examinations can miss vision issues that hinder the learning process and make educational development difficult for some children. If your child is struggling with their vision — experiencing difficulty in the classroom, having issues with focusing and reading — they may benefit from vision therapy.
Dr. Juanita D. Collier, MS OD, a behavioral optometrist specializing in Visual Therapy, and the team at 4D Vision Gym offer a child-centric training program to provide solutions and treatments through vision therapy programs. Vision therapy is a non-surgical treatment program for issues such as lazy eyes, crossed eyes, double vision, convergence insufficiency, and motion sickness, as well as reading and learning disabilities. In addition to improvements with these conditions, members of the therapy program have also cited improvements in study skills, attention span, reading ability and athletic performance.Eye Guy Logo
A trip to the 4D Vision Gym isn’t just any trip to the eye doctor. The programs available are interactive and fun, helping children gain confidence in their vision skills. 4D Vision Gym offers parents an avenue of treatment for children who may have been previously told they were going to have to “live with” their condition. The therapy program also offers solutions and treatments to problems that may have gone undiagnosed and struggles that may have been unexplained.
Treatment programs generally entail individualized vision exercises, performed under the supervision of a doctor, in sessions twice a week for 30 minutes to an hour, which will be occasionally supplemented by home exercises. These programs are designed to help patients develop or improve fundamental visual skills and abilities; improve visual comfort, ease and efficiency; and change how a patient processes or interprets visual information. While the treatment is referred to as ‘exercise’ therapy, it is not designed to strengthen eye muscles. Believe it or not, your child’s eyes are already very strong.
In addition to being a unique, cutting edge program, vision therapy can include the employment of regulated medical devices such as corrective lenses, therapeutic lenses, prism lenses, optical filters, eye patches, electronic targets with timing mechanisms, computer software, balance boards, and visual-motor-sensory integration training devices. The vision therapy process begins with a functional vision evaluation to determine whether or not your child may be a good candidate for vision therapy.
